DECISION of 15 May 1980 on the admissibility of the application
Article 3 of the Convention : Situation arising from a protest campaign by prisoners demanding special status as political prisoners consisting on the one side of refusal to wear prison uniform, to wash and to use the lavatories and on the other side of the continuous application of disciplinary measures including in particular periods of cellular isolation.
The applicants are all prisoners convicted of scheduled terrorist-type" offences under the Law of Northern Ireland as defined in the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1978 and by virtue of the special procedures provided for under that Act. They are all serving their sentences nt H.M. Prison. The Maze. Northern Ireland.
