No. 115/1934: MERCHANT SHIPPING (PILOT SIGNALS) ORDER, 1934. | ||
MERCHANT SHIPPING (PILOT SIGNALS) ORDER, 1934. | ||
WHEREAS it is enacted by section 45 of the Pilotage Act, 1913, as adapted by section 10 of the Adaptation of Enactments Act, 1922 (No. 2 of 1922), that the Governor-General of the Irish Free State may, by order made upon the advice of the Executive Council of the Irish Free State, make rules as to the signals to be used or displayed where the services of a pilot are required on any vessel: | ||
AND WHEREAS by an Order in Council dated the 29th day of June, 1900, made under section 615 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, and now in force by virtue of section 60 of the Pilotage Act, 1913, as if it had been made under the said section 45 of that Act, certain rules were made as to the signals to be used or displayed where the services of a pilot are required on any vessel: | ||
NOW, therefore, I, Domnall Ua Buachalla, Governor-General of the Irish Free State, upon the advice of the Executive Council of the Irish Free State and in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the said section 45 of the Pilotage Act, 1913, as adapted by the said section 10 of the Adaptation of Enactments Act, 1922 (No. 2 of 1922), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows:— | ||
1. This Order may be cited for all purposes as the Merchant Shipping (Pilot Signals) Order, 1934. | ||
2. The Interpretation Act, 1889, applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas passed before the 1st day of January, 1924. | ||
3. The Order in Council, hereinbefore recited, dated the 29th day of June, 1900, and made under section 615 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, is hereby revoked. | ||
4. The signals specified in the Schedule annexed hereto shall be the signals to be used or displayed where the services of a pilot are required on any vessel. | ||

SCHEDULE TO WHICH THE FOREGOING ORDER REFERS. | ||
SIGNALS FOR A PILOT. | ||
The following signals, when used or displayed together or separately, shall be deemed to be signals for a pilot:— | ||
IN THE DAYTIME— | ||
(1) The International Code Signal G. signifying "I require a Pilot"; | ||
(2) The International Code Signal P.T., signifying "I require a Pilot"; | ||
(3) The Pilot Jack hoisted at the fore. | ||
AT NIGHT— | ||
(1) The pyrotechnic light, commonly known as a blue light, every fifteen minutes; | ||
(2) A bright white light, flashed or shown at short or frequent intervals just above the bulwarks for about a minute at a time; | ||
(3) The International Code Signal P.T. by flashing. | ||
