CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 24) ORDER, 1935. | ||
WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), that the Executive Council may at any time by order (in that Act called a quota order) prohibit, subject to the provisions of the said Act, the importation into Saorstát Eireann on or after a specified day (in that Act referred to as the commencement of such order) not prior to the date of such order of any particular description or descriptions of goods, and that the Executive Council shall, in and by every quota order, appoint the day (not more than six weeks after the commencement of such order) on which the first quota period under such quota order shall commence : | ||
NOW, the Executive Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 3 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows :— | ||
1. This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 24) Order, 1935. | ||
2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas. | ||
3. In this Order— | ||
the expression " the Act " means the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), | ||
the word " perambulator " means a four-wheeled vehicle, having a rigid and non-collapsible body, which is ordinarily used for the transport of children, but does not include a vehicle which is mechanically propelled nor a vehicle which, in the opinion of the Revenue Commissioners, is designed, constructed, and primarily intended to be drawn by an animal or is of a type designed, constructed, and intended for the transport of invalid or infirm children. | ||
4. Subject to the exceptions and qualifications mentioned in the next following paragraph of this Order, the importation into Saorstát Eireann on or after the 14th day of September, 1935, of any of the following articles, which, in the opinion of the Revenue Commissioners, are completely or substantially assembled, that is to say :— | ||
(a) perambulators, | ||
(b) chassis of perambulators, | ||
(c) bodies of perambulators, | ||
(d) body shells of perambulators, | ||
is hereby prohibited. | ||
5. The prohibition effected by the next preceding paragraph of this Order shall not extend or apply to any article which— | ||
(a) is imported under and in accordance with a licence in that behalf issued under the Act, or | ||
(b) is an article to which this Order is precluded by sub-section (4) of Section 3 of the Act from applying. | ||
6. The 21st day of October, 1935, is hereby appointed to be the day on which the first quota period under this Order shall commence. | ||
