CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA NO. 13) (ARTIFICIAL SILK PIECE GOODS AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1952. |

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Control of Imports Acts, 1934 and 1937, and every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows:-- |
||
1.--(1) This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 13) (Artificial Silk Piece Goods Amendment) Order, 1952. |
||
(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 29th day of May, 1952. |
||
2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. |
||
3. The Control of Imports (Quota No. 13) Order, 1935 (S. R. & O., No. 59 of 1935), as amended, is hereby further amended by the substitution of the following for Part I of the Schedule: |
||
" PART I. |
||
ARTICLES THE IMPORTATION OF WHICH IS PROHIBITED BY THIS ORDER. |
||
|
||
(i) All woven tissues (other than floor coverings) in the piece which-- |
||
(a) are made wholly or partly of wool or worsted, and |
||
(b) are not less than twelve inches in width, and |
||
(c) are not less than four and one-half ounces in weight per square yard; or |
||
(ii) woven piece goods containing more than eighty-five per cent. by weight of spun artificial silk staple fibre which exceed eight ounces in weight per square yard other than such piece goods which-- |
||
(a) are less than thirty-seven inches in width and which have two selvedges; or |
||
(b) are of a type ordinarily used in the manufacture of bed ticks or bed mattresses; or |
||
(c) are not less than forty-five inches in width and are of a type ordinarily used in the manufacture of bedsheets; or |
||
(d) are terry; or |
||
(e) are tabling; or |
||
(f) are loomstate or bleached; or |
||
(g) have been subjected to a process of permanent painting or printing on the surface which is outermost in wear, whereby there is permanently painted or printed on such surface a bona fide design or pattern (including a design or pattern consisting of or containing words or figures or both words and figures) covering the whole of such surface or having a definite relation to the area and shape of such surface." |
