THERAPEUTIC SUBSTANCES (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1955.

THERAPEUTIC SUBSTANCES (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1955.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 5 of the Therapeutic Substances Act, 1932 (No. 25 of 1932), as adapted by Article 4 of the Health (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1947 (S.R. and O. 1947 No. 58), after consultation with the Therapeutic Substances Advisory Committee, hereby orders as follows :--

1.--(1) These regulations may be cited as the Therapeutic Substances (Amendment) Regulations, 1955.

(2) These regulations shall be read and construed as one with the Therapeutic Substances Regulations, 1934 to 1954, and may be cited collectively therewith as the Therapeutic Substances Regulations, 1934 to 1955.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to the interpretation of these regulations as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. These regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of September, 1955.

4. The Therapeutic Substances (Saorstát Éireann) Regulations, 1934 (S.R. and O. 1934 No. 365) shall be amended by the addition to the Second Schedule thereof of the following Part:--

PART V.

PROVISIONS APPLICABLE TO IMMUNE SERUM GLOBULIN (HUMAN).

1. Immune serum globulin (human) is soluble protein which is derived from human plasma, serum or tissue and has specific antibacterial antiviral or antitoxic activity. Its proper name is "Immune Serum Globulin (human)" or such other similar name as may be approved by the Minister.

2. Each batch of Immune Serum Globulin (human) shall be derived from material pooled in accordance with the requirements of the Minister.
