INDUSTRIAL TRAINING (CHEMICAL AND ALLIED PRODUCTS COMMITTEE) ORDER, 1972. |
||
An Chomhairle Oiliúna having made the Industrial Training (Chemical & Allied Products Industry) Order, 1972 ( S.I. No. 181 of 1972 ), hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 24 of the Industrial Training Act, 1967 (No. 5 of 1967), makes the following order : |

1. This Order may be cited as the Industrial Training (Chemical & Allied Products Committee) Order, 1972. |
||
2. An industrial training committee to be known as the Chemical & Allied Products Industry Training Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) is hereby established to advise and assist An Chomhairle Oiliúna (in this Order referred to as An Chomhairle) as respects the performance by An Chomhairle of its functions in relation to the activities of industry declared by the Industrial Training (Chemical and Allied Products Industry) Order, 1972 ( S.I. No. 181 of 1972 ), to be designated industrial activities for the purposes of the Industrial Training Act, 1967 (No. 5 of 1967). |

3. The Committee shall consist of a Chairman and twenty-two ordinary members. |
||
4. An Chomhairle shall appoint a person who is not representative of either workers' or employers' interests to be Chairman of the Committee. |
||
5. The ordinary members of the Committee shall include ten workers' members, ten employers' members, one educational member and one other ordinary member. |
||
6. An Chomhairle shall-- |
||
(a) after consultation with the Minister, invite, in respect of each workers' member, an organisation representative of trade unions of workers to nominate a person for appointment as workers' member and shall appoint each person so nominated to be a workers' member, |
||
(b) after consultation with the Minister, invite an organisation or organisations representative of employers to nominate persons for appointment as employers' members and shall appoint ten persons from the persons so nominated to be the employers' members, |
||
(c) after consultation with the Minister for Education, appoint one person to be the educational member, and |
||
(d) after consultation with such organisations as An Chomhairle considers suitable, appoint one person to be the other ordinary member. |
||
7. Subject to Article 11 of the Second Schedule to the Industrial Training Act, 1967 (No. 5 of 1967), the term of office of a member of the Committee shall be three years or such other period as An Chomhairle shall determine at the time of his appointment. |
||
8. The quorum of a meeting of the Committee shall be seven members. |
||
9. The Chairman of the Committee and each ordinary member of the Committee at a meeting thereof shall have a vote. |
||
10. Every question at a meeting of the Committee shall be determined by a majority of the votes of the members present and voting on the question and, in the case of an equal division of votes, the Chairman shall have a second or casting vote. |
||
11. The Committee may act notwithstanding one or more than one vacancy amongst its members. |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
An Chomhairle Oiliúna (The Industrial Training Authority) was established under the Industrial Training Act, 1967 , to promote training in industry and commerce. |
||
This Order establishes an industrial training committee, to be known as the Chemical and Allied Products Industry Training Committee, to advise and assist An Chomhairle as respects the performance of its functions in relation to the activities of that industry as defined by the Industrial Training (Chemical and Allied Products Industry) Order, 1972 ( S.I. No. 181 of 1972 ). |
