AIR POLLUTION ACT, 1987 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1988.

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 2 of the Air Pollution Act, 1987 (No. 6 of 1987), hereby orders as follows:--

1. This Order may be cited as the Air Pollution Act, 1987 (Commencement) Order, 1988.

2. In this Order, 'the Act' means the Air Pollution Act, 1987 .

3. On the 1st day of November, 1988--

(a) sections 6, 17, 30 to 38, 57 and 58 of the Act shall come into operation,

(b) section 9 of the Act shall come into operation for the purpose of repealing the Alkali, etc. Works Regulation Act, 1906, and the Control of Atmospheric Pollution (Licensing) Regulations, 1985 ( S.I. No. 178 of 1985 ).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into operation on 1st November, 1988, the provisions of the Air Pollution Act, 1987 which relate to the licensing of industrial plant.
