SOCIAL WELFARE ACT, 1989 (SECTION 6) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1989.

SOCIAL WELFARE ACT, 1989 (SECTION 6) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1989.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 6 of the Social Welfare Act, 1989 (No. 4 of 1989), hereby orders as follows:--

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1989 (Section 6) (Commencement) Order, 1989.

2. Section 6 of the Social Welfare Act, 1989 shall come into operation on the 27th day of October, 1989.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into effect the provisions of section 6 of the Social Welfare Act, 1989 which provide for the introduction of the widower's (non-contributory) pension and deserted husband's allowance schemes.
