SEA POLLUTION ACT, 1991 (INTERVENTION CONVENTION) (COUNTRIES OF ACCEPTANCE) ORDER, 1995.

SEA POLLUTION ACT, 1991 (INTERVENTION CONVENTION) (COUNTRIES OF ACCEPTANCE) ORDER, 1995.

I, HUGH COVENEY, Minister for the Marine, being satisfied that the countries specified in Part I of the Schedule to the following Order have accepted the International Convention Relating to Intervention on the High Seas in Cases of Oil Pollution Casualties, 1969, and being further satisfied that the Convention has been extended to the territories specified in Part II of the Schedule to the following Order, hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 9 and 28 of the Sea Pollution Act, 1991 (No. 27 of 1991), order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Sea Pollution Act, 1991 (Intervention Convention) (Countries of Acceptance) Order, 1995.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 15th day of May, 1995.

3. In this Order, "the Intervention Convention" means the International Convention Relating to Intervention on the High Seas in Cases of Oil Pollution Casualties, 1969, done at Brussels on the 29th day of November, 1969.

4. It is hereby declared that--

( a ) the countries specified in Part I of the Schedule to this Order have accepted the Intervention Convention, and

( b ) the Intervention Convention extends to the territories specified in Part II of the Schedule to this Order.

5. The Oil Pollution of the Sea (Intervention Convention Countries) Order, 1979 ( S.I. No. 369 of 1979 ), is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order declares that the countries specified in Part I of the Schedule thereto have accepted the International Convention Relating to Intervention on the High Seas in Cases of Oil Pollution Casualties, 1969 and that the Convention extends to the Territories specified in Part II of the Schedule.
