EXPLANATORY NOTE |
||
These Regulations provide for changes in relation to the labels and labelling of video recordings. The changes are necessitated by an amendment to the Video Recordings Act, 1989 which has been made by the Video Recordings Act, 1989 (Classification of Video Works) Regulations, 1996. The changes to video classifications are: (a) substitution of the words "under parental guidance" for the words "in the company of a responsible adult" in the classification "fit for viewing generally, but in the case of a child under 12 years, only in the company of a responsible adult"; and (b) introduction of an additional classification of "fit for viewing by persons aged 12 years or more". Because of these changes, two new symbols are prescribed by the present Regulations for use on classification labels. A Schedule to the 1994 Regulations has also been replaced by a new Schedule containing both the two new symbols as well as those symbols which are unchanged. |
