SOCIAL WELFARE (NO. 2) ACT. 1995 (SECTIONS 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10(1) AND 10(2)) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER. 1997

SOCIAL WELFARE (NO. 2) ACT. 1995 (SECTIONS 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10(1) AND 10(2)) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER. 1997

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 12 of the Social Welfare (No. 2; Act, 1995 (No. 23 of 1995), hereby orders as follows:

Citation

1. This Order may be cited as Social Welfare (No. 2) Act, 1995 (Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10(1) and 10(2)) (Commencement) Order, 1997.

Commencement

2. Sections 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 (1) and 10 (2) of the Social Welfare (No. 2) Act, 1995 shall come into operation on 21st day of April, 1997.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order provides that sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10(1) and 10(2) will come into operation on the 21st day of April, 1997.

These sections provide the necessary changes in the Social Welfare Code so as to ensure that a spouse will not be disadvantaged in terms of his or her social welfare entitlements as a result of his or her legal status being changed from married, separated or deserted to divorced.
