The Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister by section 25 of the Social Welfare Act, 1998 (No. 6 of 1998), hereby orders as follows: |

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1998 (Section 19) (Commencement) Order, 1998. |

2. The 5th day of June, 1998, is hereby appointed as the day on which section 19 of the Social Welfare Act, 1998 (No. 6 of 1998), shall come into operation. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
|
This Order provides that section 19 of the Social Welfare Act, 1998 will come into effect on the 5th day of June, 1998. |
||
|
Section 19 provides that those who are age 66 years or over and in receipt of a Blind Pension will now receive a higher rate of payment than those who have not attained 66. |
