FISHING VESSELS (CERTIFICATION OF DECK OFFICERS AND ENGINEER OFFICERS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 2000.

I, FRANK FAHEY, Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Merchant Shipping (Certification of Seamen) Act, 1979 ( No. 37 of 1979 ), and the Communications (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1987 ( S.I. No. 91 of 1987 ) as adapted by the Marine (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 301 of 1997 ) hereby make the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Fishing Vessels (Certification of Deck Officers and Engineer Officers) (Amendment) Regulations, 2000, and shall come into operation on the 1st day of May, 2000.

2. The Fishing Vessels (Certification of Deck Officers and Engineer Officers) Regulations, 1988 ( S.I. No. 289 of 1988 ), are hereby amended as follows:

In Regulation 4. (b):

(i) by the substitution for “16.5 metres” of “17 metres”,

(ii) by the substitution for the “Table” of the following table:

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

These Regulations amend the Fishing Vessels (Certification of Deck Officers and Engineer Officers) Regulations, 1988 ( S.I. No. 289 of 1988 ), to include the manning requirements of vessels of a length greater than 100 metres.
