S.I. No. 105/2012 - Road Traffic (Special Permits for Particular Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations 2012.

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

"Iris Oifigiúil" of 6th April, 2012.

I, LEO VARADKAR, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 11 and 13 of the Road Traffic Act 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and the National Roads and Road Traffic (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 298 of 2002 ) (as adapted by the Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 141 of 2011 )), hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Special Permits for Particular Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations 2012.

2. In these Regulations "Regulations of 2009" means the Road Traffic (Specialised Vehicle Permits Regulations 2009 (S.I. 147 of 2009).

3. Regulation 2A (inserted by Regulation 11 of the Regulations of 2009) of the Road Traffic (Special Permits for Particular Vehicles) Regulations 2007 ( S.I. No. 283 of 2007 ) is revoked.

4. Regulation 11 of the Regulations of 2009 is revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

This amendment allows the Minister or any other Authority to issue a permit to a vehicle to operate on the designated roads which would otherwise be illegal.
