I, LEO VARADKAR, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Road Safety Authority (Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness) Act 2012 (No. 16 of 2012), hereby order as follows: |

|
1. This Order may be cited as the Road Safety Authority (Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness) Act 2012 (Part 3) (Commencement) Order 2013. |
||
|
2. The day fixed as the day on which Part 3 of the Road Safety Authority (Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness) Act 2012 (No. 16 of 2012) comes into operation is 12 January 2013. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE |
||

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation). |

|
This Order commences sections 49 to 56 of the Road Safety Authority (Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness) Act 2012 . These sections provide for and support the transfer of certain driver licensing functions to the Road Safety Authority (RSA). The RSA will become a licensing authority within the meaning of Part III of the Road Traffic Act 1961 with effect from 12 January 2013. |
