I, MICHAEL CREED, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2020/177 of 11 February 2020 ¹ , hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Seed of Fodder Plants) (Amendment) Regulations 2020.

2. The European Communities (Seed of Fodder Plants) Regulations 2002 ( S.I. No. 198 of 2002 ) are amended in Regulation 2(1) by substituting for the definition of “Directive” (as amended by the European Communities (Seed of Fodder Plants) (Amendment) Regulations 2018 ( S.I. No.453 of 2018 )) the following:

3. The European Communities (Seed of Fodder Plants) (Amendment) Regulations 2018 ( S.I. No.453 of 2018 ) are revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

These Regulations give effect to the provisions of Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2020/177 by amending the Annexes I and II to Directive 66/401/EEC as they relate to inspections for Union regulated non-quarantine pests (RNQPs) and measures intended to prevent their presence on seeds of fodder plants for planting.
