DECISION

The unanimous decision of the tribunal is that the claimant’s claim of age discrimination be dismissed.

The claimant appeared in person and was not represented.

The respondent was represented by Ms R Connolly, Solicitor, of Rosemary Connolly, Solicitors.

 

1.       The claimant’s claim of age discrimination is dismissed.  He is not entitled to present a claim to the tribunal in view of the provisions of Article 19 of the Employment (Northern Ireland) Order 2003 regarding the requirement to send a grievance in writing to the employer and to wait 28 days before presenting a claim to the tribunal.

 

2.       Reasons for the decision were given at the hearing.

 

3.       The tribunal refused an application for costs made by the respondent.
