MEETING OF PARLIAMENT ACT 1870 MEETING OF PARLIAMENT ACT 1870 - LONG TITLE An Act to amend the Acts of the thirty-seventh year of King George the Third, chapter one hundred and twenty-seven, and the thirty-ninth and fortieth years of King George the Third, chapter fourteen. [9th August 1870] Preamble, which recites the Meeting of Parliament Acts, 1797 (c.127) and 1799 (c.14 (39 & 40 Geo.3)), rep. by SLR 1893 (No.2) MEETING OF PARLIAMENT ACT 1870 - SECT 1 Short title. 1. This Act may be cited as "The Meeting of Parliament Act, 1870." MEETING OF PARLIAMENT ACT 1870 - SECT 2 Summoning of Parliament. 2. Parliament may be summoned by a Royal Proclamation in manner provided by the recited Acts, to meet on any day not less than six days from the day of the date of such proclamation, and the recited Acts, so far as they relate to such summoning of Parliament, shall be construed as if six days were therein substituted for fourteen days.
