ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (Test Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002

  Made 14th February 2002 
  Coming into operation 1st April 2002 

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 5(3), (4) and (5) and 218(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981[1] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, and in accordance with Article 19C(3)[2] of that Order with the approval of the Department of Finance and Personnel[3] as regards regulation 2, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (Test Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2002.

Amendment of the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996
     2.  - (1) The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996[4] shall be amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) and (3).

    (2) In regulation 24 (fees for theory tests) for "£17·00" there shall be substituted "£18·00".

    (3) For Schedule 4 there shall be substituted - 




Revocation
     3. The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (Test Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001[5] and the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment No. 2) (Test Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001[6] are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)


These Regulations amend the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 by substituting a new Schedule 4. In the new Schedule 4 the following fees have been increased - 

The fee for a test, other than an extended test, for vehicles in categories A1, B1 (other than B1 invalid carriages) P and A remains unchanged at £45·00 for a test commencing during normal hours and £57·00 for a test commencing out of hours.

The fee for an extended driving test during normal hours for a vehicle in category A remains unchanged at £90·00.

The fee for a theory test in respect of any category of motor vehicle is increased from £17·00 to £18·00.
