EDUCATION
The Education (1998 Order) (Commencement No. 5) Order (Northern Ireland) 2005
The Department of Education, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 1(3) of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998[1], and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation
1.
This Order may be cited as the Education (1998 Order) (Commencement No. 5) Order (Northern Ireland) 2005.
Appointed Day
2.
The following provisions of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 shall come into operation on 29th April 2005, that is to say -
(a) Articles 55 to 60;
(b) Articles 67 and 68; and
(c) Articles 70 to 72.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into operation the following Articles of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998, Part VII, Financing of Schools:
- Articles 55 to 57 provide for the suspension, review, and appeal procedures relating to the withdrawal of financial delegation;
- Article 58 which makes provisions relating to the staff of controlled and maintained schools with delegated budgets;
- Articles 59 and 60 provides for the financing by boards of special schools, and Article 67 provides for the preparation of financial statements for special schools managed by the board;
- Article 68 provides for building and equipment grants for voluntary schools; and
- Articles 70 to 72 provide for miscellaneous financial provisions relating to schools.
NOTE AS TO EARLIER COMMENCEMENT ORDERS
(This note is not part of the Order)
The following provisions of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 have been brought into operation by commencement orders made before the date of this Order:
