The Department of the Environment makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 1(3) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 2007(1).
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (2007 Order) (Commencement No. 8) Order (Northern Ireland) 2011.
(2) In this Order "the Order" means the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 2007.
2. The day appointed for the coming into operation of Article 36 of the Order shall be 6th February 2012.

This Order brings into operation Article 36 of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 2007.
Article 36 inserts a new Article 19I into the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 so as to allow the Department of the Environment to grant access to driver licensing information held by it and to make regulations specifying the purposes for which that information may be used.
(This note is not part of the Order)
