The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 18(1) of the Criminal Law (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 1995( 1) and all other powers enabling them to do so.
1. This Order may be cited as the Sports Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) (Scotland) Amendment Order 2024 and comes into force on 16 January 2025.
2.—(1) The Sports Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) (Scotland) Order 2014( 2) is amended as follows.
(2) In schedule 1 (sports grounds)—
(a) omit the following entry—
“Edinburgh University Sports Union | Edinburgh ”, |
(b) insert the following entry at the appropriate place—
“Albyn Park | Broxburn ”. |

This Order amends the Sports Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) (Scotland) Order 2014 (“ the 2014 Order”). The 2014 Order designates sports grounds, classes of sporting events played at those grounds and classes of sporting events outside Great Britain for the purposes of Part 2 of the Criminal Law (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 1995 (sporting events: control of alcohol etc.).
Article 2(2) of this Order makes changes to the list of sports grounds designated in the 2014 Order, to reflect changes to the membership of the football leagues for which the home grounds of member clubs were designated in the 2014 Order.
1995 c. 39. The functions of the Secretary of State were transferred to the Scottish Ministers by virtue of section 53 of the Scotland Act 1998 (c. 46). Section 18 has been modified by paragraph 2 of schedule 3 of the Interpretation and Legislative Reform (Scotland) Act 2010 (asp 10).
