Summary: The complainant requested all information held by the BBC relating to the prospective televised debates between political leaders in the run up to the General Election. The BBC stated that the requests fell outside the scope of the Act because they were for information held for the purposes of journalism, art or literature. The Commissioner-™s decision is that the BBC correctly determined that the requested information is held to a significant extent for these purposes and therefore the BBC is not obliged to comply with Parts I to V of the Act.
