Summary: The complainant requested information about the BBC publishing an article on its website. The BBC provided some information, but explained that the remainder fell outside the scope of the Act because it is information held for the purposes of journalism, art or literature. After carefully considering the arguments of both sides, the Commissioner-™s decision is that the requested information was genuinely held for the purposes of journalism. Therefore the BBC is not obliged to comply with Parts I to V of the Act. This decision notice is currently under appeal to the Information Tribunal.
