The fireplace known as the Rayburn Prince 76 and manufactured by Glynwed Domestic and Heating Appliances Limited. | The fireplace shall be installed, maintained and operated so as to minimise the emission of smoke and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. No fuel shall be used other than selected washed coal doubles and trebles. |
Section 11 of the Clean Air Act 1956 empowers local authorities to declare the whole or any part of their district to be a smoke control area in which the emission of smoke is, generally, prohibited.
This order exempts the Rayburn Prince 76 manufactured by Glynwed Domestic and Heating Appliances Limited (formerly Glynwed Foundries Limited) from the provisions of that section, upon certain conditions as to proper operation, including the condition that no fuel shall be used other than selected washed coal doubles and trebles (also known as nuts and large nuts).
It also revokes the Smoke Control Areas (Exempted Fireplaces) Order 1975 which referred to the same fireplace but to the manufacturers by their former name.
