In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3(3) of the Prosecution of Offences Act 1985, I hereby make the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Prosecution of Offences Act 1985 (Specified Police Forces) Order 1985 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1986.
2. The bodies of constables listed in the Schedule to this Order are hereby specified for the purposes of section 3 of the Prosecution of Offences Act 1985 (which, amongst other things, places a duty on the Director of Public Prosecutions to take over the conduct of criminal proceedings and binding over proceedings instituted on behalf of a body so specified).

This Order specifies the police forces set out in the Schedule for the purposes of section 3 of the Prosecution of Offences Act 1985. The effect is that the duties of the Director of Public Prosecutions as head of the Crown Prosecution Service will include the taking over of the conduct of all criminal proceedings (other than "specified proceedings" as defined in section 3(3) of that Act) and all binding over proceedings instituted on behalf of one of those forces.
