The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 444(1) of the Housing Act 1985(1), and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Mortgage Indemnities (Recognised Bodies) (No.2) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 4th November 1987.
2. The bodies named in the Schedule to this Order are hereby specified for the purposes of section 444 of the Housing Act 1985.

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order specifies three additional bodies for the purposes of section 444 of the Housing Act 1985 ("the 1985 Act"). The bodies specified become recognised bodies for the purposes of sections 442 and 443 of the 1985 Act. Local authorities may, with the approval of the Secretary of State, enter into agreements with recognised bodies providing for indemnities, where such bodies make advances secured by way of mortgage, on dwelling-houses bought from the public sector landlords listed in section 444(4) of the 1985 Act.
