The Secretary of State for Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 18(3) of the Social Security Act 1988(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Social Security Act 1988 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1988.
2. The day appointed for the coming into force of the provisions of the Social Security Act 1988 specified below is 12th September 1988 -
(a)section 4 (income support and child benefit);
(b)Schedule 4, paragraphs 2 (employment and training) and 30 (overpayments), and section 16(1) so far as it relates to those paragraphs; and
(c)the repeal in Schedule 5 of paragraph 45 of Schedule 10 to the Social Security Act 1986(2), and section 16(2) so far as it relates to it.

This Order provides for the coming into force on 12th September 1988 of the following provisions of the Social Security Act 1988 -
section 4;
paragraphs 2 and 30 of Schedule 4;
the repeal in Schedule 5 of paragraph 45 of Schedule 10 to the Social Security Act 1986.
These provisions relate to income support and child benefit for persons aged 16 and 17 years and the supply of information to the Secretary of State under the Employment and Training Act 1973 (c. 50).
