(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Assured and Protected Tenancies (Lettings to Students) Regulations 1988. A new Schedule is added (as Schedule 2) to those Regulations specifying six bodies for the purposes of paragraph 8 of Schedule 1 to the Housing Act 1988. (Two of these bodies had been so specified in the 1988 Regulations but had also, incorrectly, been specified for the purposes of section 8 of the Rent Act 1977, and the opportunity has been taken to correct that error.)
A tenancy granted by such a body to a student or prospective student at an educational institution specified in the 1988 Regulations is not an assured tenancy for the purposes of the 1988 Act.
