The A5/A49 Trunk Roads (Shrewsbury Bypass and Improvements) (Temporary Bridge over the River Severn at Uffington, Shrewsbury) Order 1989

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by section 106 of the Highways Act 1980(1), and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers:

1. The Secretary of State is authorised to construct the temporary bridge specified in the Schedule to this Order for the purposes of transporting spoil, building materials and machinery in connection with construction of the new trunk road and the River Severn crossing at Uffington, Shrewsbury.

2. In this Order-�

(i)"the new trunk road" means the new trunk road to be constructed by the Secretary of State in pursuance of the (A5) London-Holyhead Trunk Road and Slip Roads and the(A49) Newport-Shrewsbury-Whitchurch-Warrington Trunk Road (A5/A49) Shrewsbury By-Pass and Improvements) Order 1985(3) and the (A5) London-Holyhead Trunk Road and Slip Roads and the (A49) Newport-Shrews-bury-Whitchurch-Warrington Trunk Road (A5/A49 Shrewsbury By-Pass and Improvements) (Overley Hill) (No. 2) Order 1985(4);

(ii)"the River Severn Crossing" means the bridge to be constructed by the Secretary of State over the River Severn at Uffington in pursuance of the (A5) London-Holyhead Trunk Road and Slip Roads and the (A49) Newport-Shrews-bury-Whitchurch-Warrington Trunk Road (A5/A49 Shrewsbury By-Pass and Improvements) Order 1985.

3. This Order shall come into force on 5th January 1990 and may be cited as the A5/A49 Trunk Roads (Shrewsbury Bypass and Improvements) (Temporary Bridge over the River Severn at Uffington, Shrewsbury) Order 1989.

SCHEDULETEMPORARY BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER SEVERN AT UFFINGTON

SPECIFICATION

POINTS OF COMMENCEMENT AND TERMINATION

Froma point on the north bank of the River Severn approximately 259m (283 yds) north east of the north corner of Ordnance Parcel 0026 and approximately 89m (97 yds) south west of the west corner of Ordnance Parcel 6879.
Toa point on the south bank of the River Severn approximately 272m (297 yds) east of the north corner of Ordnance Parcel 0026 and approximately 133m (145 yds) south of the west corner of Ordnance Parcel 6879.
Headroomnot less than 4.0m (13.1 feet) above normal river retention level to be maintained for a distance of 20.0m (21.9 yds) each side of the centre-line of the waterway.
Waterwayas defined by the above limits.
