The Folkestone-Honiton Trunk Road (A27) (Windhover Roundabout to Southampton City Boundary and Park Gate Link Detrunking) Order 1989

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980(1), and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers:

1. The lengths of the trunk road described in the schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be trunk road and shall be classified as principal road as from the date on which this Order comes into force.

2. In this Order -�

(1) All measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highways;

(2) (i) "the deposited plan" means the plan numbered RSE A27/15A/65/2/1 marked "The Folkestone-Honiton Trunk Road (A27) (Windhover Roundabout to Southampton City Boundary and Park Gate Link Detrunking) Order 1989 signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 3PY;"

(ii)"principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and

(iii)"the trunk road" means The Folkestone-Honiton Trunk Road (A27).

3. This Order shall come into force on 20th June 1989 and may be cited as the Folkestone-Honiton Trunk Road (A27) (Windhover Roundabout to Southampton City Boundary and Park Gate Link Detrunking) Order 1989.

SCHEDULELENGTHS OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The lengths of trunk road ceasing to be trunk road are in the County of Hampshire as follows:

(i)the length of trunk road comprising the roundabout over Junction 9 of the M27 motorway and that length known as the Park Gate Link situated between that roundabout and the A27 roundabout near Locks Heath, a total distance of 870 metres;

(ii)the length of the trunk road comprising the roundabout under Junction 8 of the M27 motorway, and that length known as the Windhover Link situated between that roundabout and Windhover Roundabout, a total distance of 870 metres;

(iii)the length of trunk road comprising Windhover Roundabout and that length situated between that roundabout and a point on the trunk road at its junction with Cutbush Lane, a total distance of 5.5 kilometres.
