BETTING, GAMING AND LOTTERIES

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 10(1A) of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963(1), hereby makes the following Order, a draft thereof having been approved by both Houses of Parliament:
1. This Order may be cited as the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963 (Schedule 4) (Amendment) Order 1995 and shall come into force one month after the day on which it is made.
2. In this Order "the 1963 Act" means the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963.
3. Paragraph 8(1) of Schedule 4(2) to the 1963 Act is hereby repealed.
4. For paragraph 10(3) of Schedule 4 to the 1963 Act there is substituted the following-
"(3) There may be sold, by any means whatever, on the licensed premises pre-� packaged sandwiches and other pre-�packaged snacks including, without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, confectionery, biscuits and cakes.".

This Order amends Schedule 4 to the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963 (rules for licensed betting offices).
Article 3 of the Order repeals the restriction in paragraph 8(1) of that Schedule regarding the size and positioning of television screens used on licensed premises.
Article 4 amends paragraph 10(3) of the Schedule, extending the range of refreshments which may be sold on licensed premises.
1963 c. 2; subsections (1A) to (1C) of section 10 were inserted by section 1(1) of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries (Amendment) Act 1984 (c. 25).
Paragraphs 7 to 11 of Schedule 4 to the 1963 Act were added by the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963 (Schedule 4) (Amendment) Order 1986 (S.I. 1986/11).
