In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 8(5) and 35(4) and (5) of the Education Act 1980(1), sections 22 and 232(5) and (6) of the Education Reform Act 1988(2), sections 16 and 19(3) of the Education (Schools) Act 1992(3) and sections 153(1) and 301(6) of the Education Act 1993(4), and after consulting with those persons with whom consultation appeared to him to be desirable, the Secretary of State for Wales hereby makes the following Regulations:
1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Education (School Performance Information) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 1996 and shall come into force on 24th July 1996.
(2) In these Regulations references to the principal Regulations are to the Education (School Performance Information) (Wales) Regulations 1995(5).
2.-(1) Regulation 3(1) of the principal Regulations (interpretation) shall be amended as follows.
(2) In the definition of "the Document" there shall be substituted for "relating""covering", and "to" (in the second and third places where it appears) shall be omitted.
3. Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations shall be amended by the deletion of "and" at the end of sub-paragraph (k) of paragraph 15, by the insertion after sub-paragraph (l) of "and" and by the addition at the end of paragraph 15 of the following-
"(m)achieved any grade from A-�C in a GCSE English or Welsh examination (other than Welsh Second Language) and in both a GCSE Science examination and a GCSE Mathematics examination.".
4.-(1) Schedule 2 to the principal Regulations shall be amended as follows.
(2) There shall be inserted at the end of that Schedule the following-
"5. The information about vocational qualifications referred to in paragraph 3 above but in relation to a Part 1 Foundation GVNQ.
6. The information about vocational qualifications referred to in paragraph 3 above but in relation to a Part 1 Intermediate GVNQ.".

These Regulations (in addition to minor drafting amendments) amend the Education (School Performance Information) (Wales) Regulations 1995 by adding to the categories of information which governing bodies are required to provide the further categories referred to in regulations 3 and 4.
1980 c. 20. Section 8(5) was substituted by paragraph 4(1) of Schedule 4 to the Education (Schools) Act 1992 (c. 38).
1988 c. 40. Section 22 was amended by paragraph 6 of Schedule 4 to the Education (Schools) Act 1992 and (in ways not relevant to these Regulations) by paragraph 123 of Schedule 19 to the Education Act 1993 (c. 35). It applies to grant-maintained special schools and their governing bodies by virtue of S.I. 1994/653. For matters to be prescribed, see section 235(7) of the 1988 Act and section 114(1) of the Education Act 1944 (c. 31), and for the transfer of functions to the Secretary of State see S.I. 1964/490, S.I. 1970/1536, S.I. 1978/274 and S.I. 1995/2985.
1992 c. 38. Section 16 applies to grant-maintained special schools and their governing bodies by virtue of S.I. 1994/653. For the meaning of "prescribed" see section 18(1) of this Act.
1993 c. 35. Section 153 applies to grant-maintained special schools by virtue of S.I. 1994/1048.
