The West Suffolk Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Amendment Order 2000

Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 126(3) and (4) of the national Health Service Act 1977(1) and section 5(1) of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990(2) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, after completion of the consultation prescribed under section 5(2) of the latter Act(3), hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the West Suffolk Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Amendment 2000 and shall come into force on 13th September 2000.

Amendment of NHS trust establishment Order

2. After article 4 of the West Suffolk Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1992(4) there shall be inserted the following article-

"Significant teaching commitment

4A.-(1) The trust is to be regarded as having a significant teaching commitment by virtue of paragraph 3(1)(d) of Schedule 2 to the Act.

(2) One of the non-executive directors of the trust shall be appointed from the University of Cambridge.".

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the establishment Order of the West Suffolk Hospitals National Health Service Trust, an NHS trust established by Order under Part I of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990, by inserting a new article 4A to provide that the trust is to be regarded as having a significant teaching commitment and that one of the non-executive directors shall be appointed from the University of Cambridge.
