Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament in accordance with section 420(3)(a) of the Greater London Authority Act 1999(1):
Now therefore, the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 21(1)(b) of the Greater London Authority Act 1999, hereby makes the following Order:
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Greater London Authority (Disqualification) Order 2000 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.
(2) In this Order "the 1999 Act" means the Greater London Authority Act 1999.
2. There are hereby designated as offices and appointments disqualifying persons from being the Mayor or an Assembly member-
(a)the office of member of any of the bodies specified in Part I of the Schedule;
(b)the offices and appointments specified in Part II of the Schedule.

1. The Audit Commission for Local Authorities and the National Health Service in England and Wales.
2. The Central Arbitration Committee.
3. The Commission for Local Administration in England.
4. The Council of the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service.
5. The Health and Safety Executive.
6. The Local Government Commission.
7. The London Pension Fund Authority.
8. The Police Complaints Authority.
9. Any office or appointment which would disqualify the holder from membership of the House of Commons by virtue of section 1(1)(a), (b), (c), (d) or (e) of the House of Commons Disqualification Act 1975(2) (judges, civil servants, members of the armed forces, members of police forces and members of foreign legislatures).
10. Chairman of the Health and Safety Commission.
11. Commissioner or Assistant Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis.
12. Commissioner of the City of London Police.
13. Comptroller and Auditor General.
14. Data Protection Registrar.
15. Director of Passenger Rail Franchising.
16. Greater London returning officer and returning officer at an election of a constituency member of the London Assembly.
17. Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Constabulary.
18. Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Fire Services.
19. Member of the Metropolitan Police Authority appointed under paragraph 5 of Schedule 2A to the Police Act 1996(3) (magistrate members).
20. Member of the staff of the National Audit Office.
21. Parking adjudicator appointed under section 73 of the Road Traffic Act 1991(4).
22. Person appointed under paragraph 2 of Schedule 10 to the 1999 Act (penalty fares appeals adjudicators).
23. Person appointed under paragraph 20 of Schedule 24 to the 1999 Act (persons to hear work place parking levy appeals).
24. Person appointed under regulations under paragraph 12(1) of Schedule 23 to the 1999 Act (road user charging appeals adjudicators).
25. Public-Private Partnership Agreement Arbiter.
26. Rail Regulator.
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order designates the offices and appointments which disqualify the holders from being elected or being the Mayor of London or a member of the London Assembly.
