MEDICAL PROFESSION

The General Medical Council (Registration (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations) Order of Council 2003

  Made 13th March 2003 
  Coming into force 1st April 2003 

At the Council Chamber, Whitehall, the 13th day of March 2003

By the Lords of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council

Whereas, in pursuance of section 32 of the Medical Act 1983[1] the General Medical Council have made the Medical Practitioners Registration (Fees) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2003 as set out in the Schedule to this Order:

     And whereas by subsection (8) of that section such regulations shall not have effect until approved by Order of the Privy Council:

     Now, therefore, Their Lordships, having taken those regulations into consideration, are pleased to, and do hereby, approve them.

This Order may be cited as the General Medical Council (Registration (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations) Order of Council 2003 and shall come into force on 1st April 2003.

SCHEDULE

THE MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS REGISTRATION (FEES) AMENDMENT (NO. 2) REGULATIONS 2003


The General Medical Council in exercise of their powers under section 32 of the Medical Act 1983 hereby make the following regulations:

Citation, commencement and interpretation
     1.  - (1) These regulations may be cited as the Medical Practitioners Registration (Fees) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 1st April 2003.

    (2) In these regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Medical Practitioners Registration (Fees) Regulations 1985[
2].

Amendments of the Principal Regulations
     2. In regulation 3(1) of the Principal Regulations, after the words "section 19, 21," there shall be inserted "21A,".

     3. In regulation 3(2) of the Principal Regulations after sub-paragraph (b) the following sub-paragraph shall be inserted - 

     4. In regulation 4(2) of the Principal Regulations after sub-paragraph (d) the following sub-paragraph shall be inserted - 

Revocation
     5. The Medical Practitioners Registration (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 2003 are revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


The regulations approved by this Order make provision for fees to be charged to doctors from outside the UK applying for and being granted registration who are eligible specialists or qualified general practitioners as defined in section 21A of the Medical Act 1983 as inserted by the Medical Act 1983 (Amendment) Order 2002.
