The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2]:—
1.
This Order may be cited as the Al Trunk Road (Al (M), A614 and B6045 Junction Improvement Blyth) (Detrunking) Order 2006 and shall come into force on 2nd June 2006.

In this Order—
(a) "classified road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;
(b) "the plan" means the plan folio consisting of the key plan and the site plan, numbered "HA 10/MP/047" and titled "The Al Trunk Road (Al (M), A614 and B6045 Junction Improvement Blyth) (Detrunking) Order 2006" signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport, ODPM-DfT Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA;
(c) "the new trunk road" means the new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct referred to in article 2 of the Al Trunk Road (A1(M), A614 and B6045 Junction Improvement Blyth) Order 2006[3]; and
(d) "the trunk road" means the London to Edinburgh Trunk Road (A1).

The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Nottinghamshire County Council that the new trunk road is open for traffic.

LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD
The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated at Hilltop roundabout (including circulatory carriageway) and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan.
