The Disability Rights Commission Act 1999 (Commencement No.3) Order 2006

  Made 27th November 2006 

The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, in exercise of the power conferred by section 16(2) of the Disability Rights Commission Act 1999[1], makes the following Order:

Citation
     1. This Order may be cited as the Disability Rights Commission Act 1999 (Commencement No.3) Order 2006.

Commencement of whole Act
    
2. The day appointed for the commencement of the Disability Rights Commission Act 1999, so far as it is not already in force, is 4th December 2006.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order brings into force the whole of the Disability Rights Commission Act 1999, so far as it is not already in force, on 4th December 2006. The practical effect is to bring into force the repeal of a few minor and obsolete provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (c.50) relating to codes of practice prepared by the (former) National Disability Council, and the Secretary of State. Codes of practice are now prepared by the Disability Rights Commission under section 53A of the Disability Discrimination Act.
