The Armed Forces Act 2021 (Commencement No. 2) Regulations 2022

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 24(1) of the Armed Forces Act 2021( 1).

Citation and extent

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Armed Forces Act 2021 (Commencement No. 2) Regulations 2022.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the British Overseas Territories except Gibraltar.

Provisions coming into force on 15th June 2022

2.  Section 10 of, and Schedule 3 to, the Armed Forces Act 2021 (service complaints appeals) come into force, in so far as they are not already in force, on 15th June 2022.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations bring into force on 15th June 2022 section 10 of, and Schedule 3 to, the Armed Forces Act 2021 (c. 35)in so far as they are not already in force.

S.I. 2022/471brought section 10 and Schedule 3 into force for the purpose only of conferring power to make subordinate legislation. Section 10 amends sections 340D and 340H of the Armed Forces Act 2006 (c. 52)as part of wider reforms to the statutory service complaints system. Schedule 3 makes consequential amendments to legislation governing when a service complaint is deemed to be withdrawn for the purposes of accessing the employment tribunal.
