The Assembly Learning Grants and Loans (Higher Education) (Wales) (Amendment) (No.3) Regulations 2007

The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred upon the Secretary of State by sections 22, 42(6) and 43(1) of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998[1], and now exercisable by them[2] make the following Regulations:

Title, commencement and application
     1. —(1) The title of these Regulations is the Assembly Learning Grants and Loans (Higher Education) (Wales) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2007.

    (2) These Regulations come into force on 4 December 2007 and apply in relation to Wales.

Interpretation
    
2. In these Regulations "the 2007 Regulations" ("Rheoliadau 2007") means the Assembly Learning Grants and Loans (Higher Education) (Wales) Regulations 2007[3].

Amendment of the 2007 Regulations
     3. The 2007 Regulations are amended as follows.

    
4. In regulation 61E (1) (a) (i), for the figure "£1,150" substitute the figure "£905".

    
5. In regulation 61E (1) (b), for the figure "£250" substitute the figure "£1,025".

    
6. In regulation 61F (1) (b) and regulation 61F (1) (c), for the figure "£15,700" substitute the figure "£15,715".

    
7. In regulation 61F (1) (d), for the figures "£15,700" and "£23,680" substitute the figures "£15,715" and "£23,700" respectively.

    
8. In regulation 61F (1) (e), for the figure "£23,680" substitute the figure "£23,700".

    
9. In regulation 61F (1) (f), for the figures "£23,680" and "£24,280" substitute the figures "£23,700" and "£24,315" respectively.

    
10. In regulation 61F (1) (g), for the figures "£24,280", "£26,180" and "£9.50" substitute the figures "£24,315", "£26,265" and "£2.00" respectively.

    
11. In regulation 61F (1) (h) and regulation 61F (1) (i), for the figure "£26,180" substitute the figure "£26,265".

    
12. In regulation 61F (2) (a) for the figures "£7.60" and "£15,700", substitute the figures “£15.81 and "£15,715" respectively.

    
13. In regulation 61F (2) (b), for the figure "£1,150" wherever it appears, substitute the figure "£905".

    
14. In regulation 61H (6) (a), for the figure "£12,420" substitute the figure "£12,425".

    
15. In regulation 61H (6) (b), for the figure "£4,905" substitute the figure "£4,910".

    
16. In regulation 61H (1) (d), for the figure "£1,640" substitute the figure "£1,645".

    
17. In regulation 65(3), for "regulation 70" substitute "regulation 63".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend the Assembly Learning Grants and Loans (Higher Education) (Wales) Regulations 2007 ("the 2007 Regulations").

Amendments to the 2007 Regulations
The 2007 Regulations provide for support for students taking designated higher education courses in respect of an academic year beginning on or after 1 September 2007.

These Regulations amend the 2007 Regulations in relation to the provision of support to students who are undertaking designated distance learning courses set out in the new regulations 61E (support for distance learning courses), 61F (amount of support) and 61H (disabled distance learning students' allowance).

Regulations 4 to 16 amend the figures in regulations 61E, 61F and 61 H of the 2007 Regulations.

The functions of the National Assembly for Wales were transferred to the Welsh Ministers by virtue of paragraphs 30(1) and 30(2)(a) of Schedule 11 of the Government of Wales Act 2006 (c.32).back
