Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2002

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 6(1) of No. 36 of 1939 ), hereby order as follows:

1.       (1)      This Order may be cited as the Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2002.

(2)      This Order comes into operation on 19 June 2002.

2.       The name of the Department of State, the present name of which is, in the Irish language, an Roinn Ealaíon, Oidhreachta, Gealtachta agus Oileán and, in the English language, the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, is altered, in the Irish language, to that of an Roinn Gnóthaí Pobail, Tuaithe agus Gaeltachta and, in the English language, to that of the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

3.       The title of the Minister having charge of the Department of State, whose present title is, in the Irish language, an tAire Ealaíon, Oidhreachta, Gaeltachta agus Oileán and, in the English language, the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, is altered, in the Irish language, to that of an tAire Gnóthaí Pobail, Tuaithe agus Gaeltachta and, in the English language, to that of the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

4.       In any enactment or any instrument made under an enactment -

(a)     references to the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands shall be construed as references to the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs;

(b)     references to the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands shall be construed as references to the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

This Order changes the name of the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands to that of the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and the title of the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands to the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
