Social, Community and Family Affairs (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2002

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 6(1) of No. 36 of 1939 ), hereby order as follows:

1.       (1)      This Order may be cited as the Social, Community and Family Affairs (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2002.

(2)      This Order comes into operation on 19 June 2002.

2.       The name of the Department of State, the present name of which is, in the Irish language, an Roinn Gnóthaí Sóisialacha Pobail agus Teaghlaigh and, in the English language, the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs, is altered, in the Irish language, to that of an Roinn Gnóthaí Sóisialacha agus Teaghlaigh and, in the English language, to that of the Department of Social and Family Affairs.

3.       The title of the Minister having charge of the Department of State, whose present title is, in the Irish language, an tAire Gnóthaí Sóisialacha Pobail agus Teaghlaigh and, in the English language, the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, is altered, in the Irish language, to that of an tAire Gnóthaí Sóisialacha agus Teaghlaigh and, in the English language, to that of the Minister for Social and Family Affairs.

4.       In any enactment or any instrument made under an enactment -

(a)     references to the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs shall be construed as references to the Department of Social and Family Affairs;

(b)     references to the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs shall be construed as references to the Minister for Social and Family Affairs.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order changes the name of the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs to that of the Department of Social and Family Affairs and the title of the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs to the Minister for Social and Family Affairs.
