Redundancy Payments Act 2003 (Commencement) Order 2003

I, MARY HARNEY, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 17 of the Redundancy Payments Act 2003 ( No. 21 of 2003 ), hereby order as follows:

1.     This Order may be cited as the Redundancy Payments Act 2003 (Commencement) Order 2003.

2.      In this Order “Act” means the Redundancy Payments Act 2003 ( No. 21 of 2003 ).

3.   (1)      The 25^th day of May, 2003 is appointed as the day on which sections 1 to 6, 8, 10 and 13 to 17 of the Act come into operation.

(2)      For the avoidance of doubt-

(a)            Section 10 of the Act applies only to those employees who are declared redundant on or after the 25^th day of May 2003,

and

(b)            Section 15 of the Act applies only to those circumstances where the relevant date defined by section 6(9) of No. 21 of 1984 ) occurs on or after the 25^th day of May 2003.

This Order appoints the 25^th day of May, 2003 as the day on which the specified provisions of the Redundancy Payments Act 2003 come into operation.
