INLAND POST AMENDMENT (NO. 71) SCHEME, 2003

AN POST, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 70 of the Postal and Telecommunications Act 1983 ( No. 24 of 1983 ) as amended by Regulation 8 (4) of the European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2002 ( S.I. No. 616 of 2002 ), hereby makes the following Scheme:

1. This Scheme may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 71) Scheme, 2003.

2. This Scheme shall be operative with effect from the 30^th day of August 2003.

3. In this Scheme, “the Principal Warrant” means the Inland Post Warrant, 1939 ( S.I. No. 202 of 1939 ) as amended;

“Scheme No. 36” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 36) Scheme, 1986 ( S.I. No. 362 of 1986 );

“Scheme No. 67” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 67) Scheme, 2003 ( S.I. No. 296 of 2003 );

“Scheme No. 69” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 69) Scheme, 2003 ( S.I. No. 400 of 2003 );

“Scheme No. 70” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 70) Scheme, 2003 ( S.I. No. 401 of 2003 ).

4. All rates and charges payable upon letters and postal packets in this Scheme pertain to postal packets outside the “reserved area” as defined by the European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2002 ( S.I. No. 616 of 2002 ).

5. Words defined in the Principal Warrant shall have the same meaning in this Scheme.

6. The First Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the addition to the entries therein contained (as inserted by Regulation 7 of Scheme No. 69) of the entries in the First Schedule to this Scheme.

7. The Fourth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein contained (as inserted by Regulation 7 of Scheme No. 67) of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Scheme.

8. The First Schedule to Scheme No. 36 is hereby amended by the addition to the entries therein contained (as inserted by Regulation 6 of Scheme No. 70) of the entries in the Third Schedule to this Scheme.

	1.50 per item	Length, width and depth combined: 900 mm, greatest dimension not exceeding 600mm, with a tolerance of 2mm (In roll form: length and twice diameter: 1040mm, greatest dimension not exceeding 900mm).	Each additional 500g
2. Literature and articles for the blind.	Transmission without charge.	As for item 1 in this column.	7kg

This Scheme applies to the Inland Post Service and shall be operative from the 30^th day of August, 2003. It changes the rates of postage for items and certain services outside of the reserved area as defined in the European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2002 ( S.I. No. 616 of 2002 ).

^* Where a letter falls within (1) and (2) above, the category giving the lowest rate of postage shall prevail.
