ROAD TRAFFIC

The Road Vehicles Lighting (Amendment) Regulations 2001

  Made 26th February 2001 
  Laid before Parliament 28th February 2001 
  Coming into force 21st March 2001 

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 41 of the Road Traffic Act 1988[1], and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 195(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations: - 

Citation and commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as The Road Vehicles Lighting (Amendment) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 21st March 2001.

Amendment of regulation 11
    
2. In regulation 11 of the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989[2], after paragraph (2)(s) there is inserted -

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989 by permitting, on the rear of a vehicle, a plate displaying the international distinguishing sign of the United Kingdom in accordance with Council Regulation (EC) 2411/98 (notwithstanding that it comprises retro reflective material which is not red). The Regulations have been made in consequence of the making of the Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001 (S.I. 2001/561).
