EDUCATION, WALES

The Education (Listed Bodies) (Wales) (Amendment) Order 2005

  Made 21 June 2005 
  Coming into force 30 June 2005 

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 216(2) of the Education Reform Act 1988[1] and now vested in the National Assembly for Wales[2] the National Assembly for Wales makes the following Order:

Title, commencement and application
     1. —(1) The title of this Order is the Education (Listed Bodies) (Wales) (Amendment) Order 2005 and it comes into force on 30 June 2005.

    (2) This Order applies in relation to Wales.

Amendment of the Education (Listed Bodies) (Wales) Order 2004
    
2. To the list of bodies in Section 1, Part I of the Schedule to the Education (Listed Bodies) (Wales) Order 2004[3] the following bodies are added (at their appropriate places in the alphabetical order), being bodies which appear to the National Assembly for Wales to fall within section 216(3) of the Education Reform Act 1988:

    (1) Kensington College of Business;

    (2) London City College;

    (3) School of Technology and Management[4].

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order adds three bodies to the bodies listed in Section 1, Part I of the Schedule to the Education (Listed Bodies)(Wales) Order 2004. A body so listed is not a recognised body within section 216(4) of the Education Reform Act 1988 but one which appears to the National Assembly for Wales either

"Recognised bodies" are universities, colleges or other bodies which are authorised by Royal Charter or by or under Act of Parliament to grant degrees and other bodies for the time being permitted by those bodies to act on their behalf in the granting of degrees.
